2012-10-08 Instant Feedback Loops, Online Educa Berlin 2012 (OEB)

It is hard to give lectures to large groups of students in a way which caters for every level of student. The Nobel Price Winner Carl Weiman (Science, 13 May 2011) documents that less than 10% of the content is remembered just 15 minutes after the lesson, and that interactive teaching methods double learning in large undergraduate physics classes. This provides evidence that traditional teaching methods fail to provide high learning outcomes to students, and as a consequence, lectures should be downplayed in favour of interactive teaching.
