2012-09-14 Russian universities explore innovation at HiST

A delegation of 22 representatives from 6 universities all over Russia are going to visit the DEEL research group at HiST in September. They are studying innovation processes in Sweden and Norway, and have contacted HiST to study development, use, and implementation of innovative teaching and training methods in higher education, and vocational education and training.

2012-09-06 HiST SRS - Tool of the Month in Russia

The web-portal: Learning and Teaching with the Web, which is provided by Lomonosov Moscow State University, has selected the online Student Response System (SRS)  as the tool of the month for August 2012.

2012-09-06 SRS and PeLe at Open Innovation Forum for Quality in e-Learning, Granada, Spain

HiST sponsored the 7th EFQUEL Innovation Forum 2012. This is an international conference with focus on Learning For Open Innovation. The conference took place in Granada, Spain, 5th-7th September 2012. EFQUEL is an accronym for The European Foundation for Quality in E-Learning.

2012-07-06 Serbian Students Learn Norwegian

This year 25 students are going to start on their master studies at the University of Belgrade, Institute of Scandinavian Languages. They want to study the Norwegian language, literature and culture. Though this is the largest program for studying and learning Norwegian in Europe, there isn`t yet any mobility exchange program between these students and educational institutions in Norway.

2012-07-05 Visiting Tehnkum Taurunum, Belgrade

This week HiST was invited to visit the University College Tehnkum Taurunum in Belgrade, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade. The college provides bachelor degrees in 4 programs including mechanical engineering and health, environment and safety, as well as 4 years of specialist education. They work in close collaboration with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and wanted to obtain information about new training methods and ICT services developed by HiST in recent international projects.

2012-07-03 HiST presenting at EDULEARN12, Barcelona

EDULEARN12, the 4th annual International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies was held in Barcelona 2nd-4th July  2012, with more than 700 delegates from 75 different countries attending.

EDULEARN12 is an International Forum for those who wish to present their research projects, and discuss the latest innovations and results in the field of New Technologies in Education, E-learning and methodologies applied to Education and Research.

2012-07-02 Scholarships for students and staff from Czech Republic

Last week more than 100 people from universities and educational organizations in the Czech Republic attended the international contact seminar in Prague. Researchers from HiST were invited to promote some of their ongoing R&D activities, and in order to use this opportunity to develop new mobility programs as well as new institutional cooperation through joint research projects. The mobile learning technology solutions from HiST were demonstrated.

2012-06-25 Soon you will be able to do your exam with your mobile phone!

Tired of waiting for months to get your exam result? With a mobile phone and the new education system developed in Mid-Norway, everything will be ready in five minutes. 

By Christmas, the system will be up and running, enabling students to conduct their exams and professionals to obtain their certificates by means of a mobile phone, a computer or an IT tablet, says John Birger Stav, who is the project coordinator at HiST.

2012-06-21 The Largest University in Russia start using SRS, Moscow

Lecturers and key personnel at Lomonosov Moscow State University, have requested to start using the online Student Response System (SRS) developed by the DEEL-team at Sør-Trøndelag University College (HiST). They plan to implement SRS both in lectures and whole courses at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Area Studies. The University has also expressed interest towards further cooperation with HiST in new R&D-projects, especially considering M-learning and development of new methodology to be used in new digital learning environments.

2012-06-20 Designing Joint Handheld Assessment and Teaching Tools, Orkanger, Norway

3 partners from the KA3-ICT project Done-IT, recently met in order to exploit and expand new learning methods that utilize immediate feedback in assignments and tests. The Peer Learning Assessment Services (PeLe) make this possible. 15 teachers attended the two-day workshop, and they plan to start using PeLe in a range of courses such as material sciences, mechanics, mathematics, medicine, physics, language training, history, social sciences, multimedia production and the utilization of semiconductors.

2012-06-15 ISQ, a large international training provider in Lisbon, tests the SRS

ISQ in Portugal is in the process of trying out the Student Response System (SRS). The company has more than 1000 employees and provides training on 5 continents within a wide range of fields and disciplines. Their training department in Lisbon will function as the pilot testing location, and will make use of the SRS in a number of Vocational and Education courses. In order to facilitate this, HiST has translated the SRS into Portuguese.

2012-06-14 Demonstrating SRS and ABT methods in Moscov, Russia
From 5 to 10 June, Robin Støckert and Tord Talmo attended a conference hosted by Lomonosov Moscow State University, the largest University in Russia.. Here they demonstrated the online Student Response System (SRS), a system developed by the DEEL team at HiST, which is currently being employed to good purpose through the Leonardo TOI-project Global SRS. Støckert and Talmo were asked to present the new digital learning labs and the Activity Based Training (ABT) methodology that have been designed, developed and used at HiST since 2005, and co-funded through several pilot projects like Mecca, EduMecca and HiSTMobile.
