2012-02-08 Sonans Education start testing SRS, Oslo

Sonans has 11 high schools which are distributed all over Norway, and several thousands students. They provide on site courses and distance learning in a wide range of subjects in high school education.

During Online Educa in Berlin, they visited the HiST stand and noticed the methods and software solutions that HiST has developed within use or response technologies on students own mobile devices.

2012-02-07 Visit from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the national and county road networks, vehicle inspection and requirements, driver training and licensing.

They visited the HiST stand at Online Educa in Berlin in December. During this international conference their attention for use of response technology in training and information sessions arose.

2012-01-26 Student TV: Succsess with Interactive Education

Students at the University College of Sør-Trøndelag can now actively participate in lectures without raising their hands.

The school has developed a so-called student response system in which students utilize technical devices like smart phones, web boards and computer to answer questions given by the lecturer.

- It means that I know that I learn more, says student Joakim Knut Seth to stv.no.

2012-01-18 Visit from Selçuk University, Konya, Turkey

Prof Dr. Durmus Bozkurt and his team have visited HiST for 3 days. Prof. Bozkurt visited HiST in order to study and test the Student Response System (SRS) and the Peer Learning Assessment System (PeLe), which HiST has developed during the last 3 years in the two LLP KA3-ICT projects EduMecca and Done-IT (ongoing).

2012-01-17 Successfull first test of PeLe in Romania

The very first full scale testing of the Peer Learning Assessment System (PeLe) prototype, which is currently developed in the on-going KA3 Done-IT project, started last week in Tirgu Mures, Romania. The testing was lead by Prof. Liviu Moldovan at the Petrus Major University. He used it in one of his material sciences classes, and was running the system from the servers in Trondheim, Norway, during the test.

2011-12-23 Merry Christmas from HiST

2011 has been an exiting year in Trondheim. Many new R&D projects have been launched, many presentations have been done at international conferences, meetings and events, and we have established collaboration with new institutions and organizations in several European countries.

2011-12-17 Engaging Kick-lecture for Primary School Children, Trondheim

3 teachers and 42 children’s from the seventh grade at Buvik primary school visited recently Faculty of Technology, in order to obtain a "taste" of engineering education. The first part of the lecture was allocated to chemistry where children’s curiosity was enhanced through explorative learning activities, while the second one addressed our digital learning laboratories, use of response systems, physics and audio technology.

The team from HiST got a range of new contacts at Online Educa 2011 in Berlin two weeks ago. Project results from several international projects were disseminated to delegates at the conference, including the Student Response System (SRS) and the Peer Learning Assessment System (PeLe).

2011-12-15 Successfully W-Tech e-Learning Workshop in Smederevska Palanka

HiST provided three presentations at the e-learning workshop for VET in Serbia at December 13th, 2011. It was the first of a series of workshops that are going to strengthen competence and skills for personnel at Inst. Gosa, in VET organizations, and in higher educational institutions.

2011-12-13 Buvik primary school visits HiST, Trondheim

14.12.2011
The seventh grade class from the primary school in Buvik (just outside Trondheim), with 45 children’s and 3 teachers, visits us today. They are going to attend a "kick-lecture" at our new digital learning laboratories, and observe physical phenomena from areas like chemistry, physics, and engaging use of sound.

2011-12-11 VET e-learning Workshop, Smederevska Palanka, Serbia

Institte Gosa (Belgrade) in cooperation with HiST (Trondheim) arrange at December 13th 2011 a one day know how transfer workshop at the Innovation centre in Smederevska Palanka. The target groups are teachers and instructors that provide education and training in Serbia, and industrial companies that are going to receive VET training.

2011-12-09 Teachers Apathy to Technology in the Classroom

Online Educa 2011, Berlin

Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda Transforming learning through technology, has called on teachers and education administrators to end their apathy to technology in the classroom and the education system, or risk being "guilty of a grand failure: a failure to give our children the best chance in life."
