95 % of HiST`s reqruitment classes want to use SRS in their next year of study, Trondheim

The main motivation for starting the development of an online SRS for modern mobile devices back in 2009, was the prediction that the majority of students would have an appropriate device within a few years. In November 2011, 81% of the students in the preparatory engineer classes have access to a mobile device, whereby the majority of students used their own device.

The SRS has been designed for low cost usage, availability and easy and fast to use, and inerrability with teachers' lecture format as a high priority. This included making the system independent of teachers lecture style, be it PowerPoint, digital blackboards or any other.

PhD student Kjetil Nielsen has recently investigated students experience with use of response technology. From the 2011-2012 survey 95.6% of the students (n=160) answered that they would want to use SRS further in their education if given the choice. Only 0.6% (one student) answered "no" with 3.8% answering 'don't know'.

Using their own device has been expressed as favorable among the students as they are then more familiar with the device and less prone to be subjected to technical difficulties. Technical difficulties can be a major source of frustration and irritation for the students, and result in a significant more negative attitude towards SRS.

SRS 2.0, PELE 1.5, Eval 1.0 and iLike 1.0 are available for use.
