Visiting Tehnkum Taurunum, Belgrade

This week HiST was invited to visit the University College Tehnkum Taurunum in Belgrade, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade. The college provides bachelor degrees in 4 programs including mechanical engineering and health, environment and safety, as well as 4 years of specialist education. They work in close collaboration with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and wanted to obtain information about new training methods and ICT services developed by HiST in recent international projects.

Arild Smolan and John B. Stav visited the two organizations and demonstrated results from recent EU funded projects lead by HiST. This included the welding simulator from the iQSim project, new mobile learning and mobile assessment solutions from the ongoing Done-IT and Global SRS projects, and the benefits of start using student activating training methods.

Professor Goran Jankes from the University of Belgrade, and Sasa Markovic from the university college, organized the meetings. By doing some adaptations it is expected that the new training methods and the technical solutions be used in higher education in Belgrade. HiST will together with the university and the college promote new national pilot projects in Serbia, which are goong to enhance and improve education and training of engineering students in for instance the Belgrade area.
